Blind Trust

Blind Trust

The ground beneath my feet, I trust
With my balance and gravity support
Though I’ve tripped and fell before

The eyes through which I see, I trust
To open and close, bringing me to sleep and back
Though the outcome is out of my control

The oxygen I breathe, I trust
To flow in and out of my body, giving me life
Though it’s automatic all through the day and night

The legs which carry me around, I trust
To keep moving at my brain’s command
Though I can never recall giving those commands

The feelings flowing through my body, I trust
To help me grow and eventually they too shall pass
Though too often they’ve overstayed their welcome

The brain which controls my body, I trust
To guide my life and actions at all times
Though I don’t always make the best decisions

The sky above, beyond its blue wall, I trust
There lives a powerful higher being, unlike us mortals
Though I have yet to see signs of such existence

This life we live, I trust
Revolves around good and bad karma
Though I see good and evil as a reflection of one another

The people of this world, I trust
To never fail to make me question my trust
Though I always give the benefit of doubt

This body I’ve been assigned to, I trust
To serve as my most trusted, loyal and loving friend
Though I don’t trust my damn self sometimes
