My engagement to volunteer service

Around this time last year, I decided to sign up for one of NYC’s national service programs, AmeriCorps – Civic Corps. AmeriCorps’ Civic Corps program requires participants to serve a full 10 months at a non-profit organization or city agency. As part of my service, I have been placed at Jacob Riis where I have learned  so much as a Volunteer Coordinator.

From a very young age, I always enjoyed helping others. As I grew older, my desire to help grew stronger and that desire have led to my engagement in volunteer service. Prior to AmeriCorps, I volunteered at my church and a few other places which I will talk about in another post.

Stay tuned for the story about my first day as an AmeriCorps member.

Until next time…
